Fraser Fir (Our most popular tree)

Dark green needles with bluish tint underneath, 1/2" to 1" long

The Fraser Fir branches turn slightly upward

Good form and very good needle retention

Strong branches for hanging heavy ornaments

Ability to retain its soft needles (which do not prick easily when hanging ornaments)

Strong and Pleasant Scent

concolor Fir/White fir

White Fir (Also known as Concolor fir)

Longer Blue-green narrow needles, 1’ to 1-1/2" long, occurring in rows

Moderate to strong branch strength

White fir is popular as a Christmas tree and for Christmas decoration owing to its soft needles

Excellent needle retention and abundance

Strong fragrance, some have citrus aroma and a very pleasing conical shape

Often marketed as Concolor or White Fir

Douglas Fir

These soft needles are dark green to blue green in color and are approximately 1 to 1 ½ in. in length

Douglas Fir needles radiate in all directions from the branch

Moderate to strong branch strength

Excellent needle retention

Strong aroma

Highly conical shape

Douglas fir

Canaan Fir

Relative newcomer to the Christmas tree market

Needles generally are ¾ -1 ½ inch long

Moderate to strong branch strengt

Excellent needle retention

Soft needles with pleasant aroma

Has many similarities to both Fraser and Balsam Firs in growth and appearance

We have a large number of Canaan Firs at our Strickler Road location

Balsam Fir

Needles are flat and dark green in color and are ¾ to 1½ inches in length

Moderate strength branches (not good for very heavy ornaments)

Moderate needle retention

Very pleasing fragrance throughout the Christmas season.

Balsam Fir Trees have a dark-green appearance

noble fir

Noble Fir

Noble Fir needles are over 1 inch long

Bluish-green in color but appearing silver because of 2 white rows of stomata on the underside and 1-2 rows on the upper surface

Known for its beauty, the noble fir has a long keep ability, and its stiff branches make it a good tree for heavy ornaments

Needles are generally twisted upward so that the lower surface of branches are exposed

Excellent needle retention and pleasing aroma

These trees are 4 years old at our Plantation in Franklinville N.Y.

Grand Fir

The needles are 1 to 1 1/2 inches long with glossy dark green tops and two highly visible white lines of stomata on the undersides

Moderate strength branches (not good for very heavy ornaments)

Strong pleasing aroma

Citrus aroma

These trees are 4 years old at our Plantation in Franklinville N.Y.

Very good needle retention

Big and bushy

Colorado Blue Spruce

Dark green to powdery blue needles

Bristly needles, 1" to 3" long. Very prickley

Very strong branches and is best for very heavy ornaments

Best among the spruces for needle retention

Excellent form and highly symmetrical with strong fragrance

White Spruce

Green to bluish green bristly needles, 1/2" to 3/4" long

Moderate needle retention and fragrance

Highly conical shape

There is a large number of white spruces at our Newstead farm on Hunts Corners Road and at our Strickler road location
